I am a previous customer of Intergrafix. If I try to go to a website, I get a
window that comes up that says "Incorrect DNS". What does this mean and
how can I fix it?
When Intergrafix had their setup disks that they sent to customers, they had
the DNS numbers for their service pre-programmed into their disks.
(NOTE: If you hear a tech talking about "hard-coded" DNS, that is what this
means.)
NuNet, on the other hand, automatically assigns your computer these numbers
each and every time that you log onto the Internet. Intergrafix customers
who still have those old numbers hard-coded in their settings, aren't getting
the proper settings from our system and therefore that Incorrect DNS page comes
up. To fix it, follow these steps:
Windows 95/98/98SE
1) Double Click on My Computer
2) Double Click on Dialup Networking
3) Right Click on your Dialup icon
4) Left Click on Properties
5) In the settings, click on the Server Types Tab
6) Click on the button labeled "TCP/IP Settings". ( NOTE: Do not confuse this
with the TCP/IP checkbox. That MUST stay checked for your connection to
work properly!!! )
7) The settings should be selected as follows:
-Dot in "Server Assigned IP Address" and "Server Assigned Name Server
Addresses"
-Checkmarks in "Use IP Header Compression" and "Use Default Gateway on Remote
Network".
8) Click Ok to close out of the settings.
9) Shutdown your computer and Restart
Windows ME
1) Go to Start/Setting/Dialup Networking
2) Right Click on your Dialup icon
3) Left Click on Properties
4) In the settings, click on the Networking Tab
5) Click on the button labeled "TCP/IP Settings". ( NOTE: Do not confuse this
with the TCP/IP checkbox. That MUST stay checked for your connection to
work properly!!! )
6) The settings should be selected as follows:
-Dot in "Server Assigned IP Address" and "Server Assigned Name Server
Addresses"
-Checkmarks in "Use IP Header Compression" and "Use Default Gateway on Remote
Network".
7) Click Ok to close out of the settings.
8) Shutdown your computer and Restart
Windows NT4
1) Double Click on My Computer
2) Double Click on Dialup Networking
3) Make sure you have the correct phone book entry listed in the box.
4) Click on More, then Edit Entry and Modem Properties
5) Click on the Servers Tab
6) Click on the button labeled "TCP/IP Settings". ( NOTE: Do not confuse this
with the TCP/IP checkbox. That MUST stay checked for your connection to
work properly!!! )
7) The settings should be selected as follows:
-Dot in "Server Assigned IP Address" and "Server Assigned Name Server
Addresses"
-Checkmarks in "Use IP Header Compression" and "Use Default Gateway on Remote
Network".
8) Click Ok to close out of the settings.
9) Shutdown your computer and Restart
Windows 2000
1) Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel
2) Double Click on Network and Dialup Connections
3) Right Click on your Dialup Icon
4) Left Click on Properties
5) Click on the Networking Tab
6) Click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" so that is highlighted.
7) Click on Properties
8) Make sure the dot is in "Obtain DNS servers automatically"
9) Click Ok to close out of the settings
10) Shutdown your computer and Restart.
Windows XP
1) Go to Start/Connect To/Show All Connections.
2) Right click on your Dialup Icon
3) Left Click on Properties
4) Click on the Networking Tab
5) Click on "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" so that is highlighted.
6) Click on Properties
7) Make sure the dot is in "Obtain DNS servers automatically"
8) Click Ok to close out of the settings
9) Shutdown your computer and Restart.
NOTE: After this process is done, the connection should work.
But in some cases it will not. If this is the case, you will need to
clear your Temporary Internet Files from your browser. We can walk you
through that process if you contact Technical Support
