I do not connect through NuNet but I still use my NuNet email address.  Whenever I try to send email I get an Error 550 about Relaying Mail not being permitted.  How can I send my email?

This error message appears when our mail server determines that you are not connecting through the NuNet network and yet still attempting to send email through our Outgoing Mail Server.

Our mail server is setup as "closed relay".  This means that in order to send normally using our mail server, you must be connected through a NuNet internet connection.

You can do one of the following procedures to send out your email:

  1. Change your outgoing mail server to the outgoing mail server of your new internet connection.  This is the easiest and least complicated way to make sure your email gets sent out.
  2. If you are insistent on using our mail server, you must first authenticate to our mail server.  This is done using an authentication method known as "POP3 before SMTP".  What you must do is check your email for new messages before attempting to send new messages out.  By successfully checking your email on our server, you authenticate as being a valid user of NuNet and can send email through our server for a limited time.  After that time is expired, you must check your email again before you can send again.  An important note to keep in mind is the fact that when you tell your email program to check for new messages, it is likely going to try to send any unsent messages first.  To this effect, make sure that the Outbox folder of your email program is clear before you try to authenticate.  Otherwise, it will not work properly.
